B50 - Thomas E Walker & Family, 1798

see cht. 9-3

Thomas E. Walker was born in New York City, New York, U.S.A. on 18 Sept. 1798, the 3rd child of Thomas and Elizabeth (born Jackson) Walker.

Relatively little is known of Thomas at this time except that he married a girl named Ann, who was born in Maryland, U.S.A. (Ann’s surname is unknown at the time of writing). It is believed that they married in the early 1830's. The reason for drawing this conclusion is because of the New York Monthly Meeting records of their children shown below. As their third child, William Thomas, was born in 1836, it would seem likely that their first child would have been born about 1833 or 34 and therefore Thomas and Ann would have been married about 1831/ 32. They had seven children all born in New York.

See separate Biography for Elizabeth Ann. It would seem that Ann and her brother William were twins as they were born on the same date, though William died on that date as well.

Philip Thomas' date of birth is unknown at this time. Along with his parents he removed by certificate from Purchase Monthly Meeting to New York Meeting in Nov. 1836. He died at Wampoa, China, which would seem to indicate that he was perhaps engaged in Missionary work there, as many Quakers at that time were.

George Edmondson was born in Baltimore. The record shows that he removed by certificate from West Chester with his parents on Nov. 1836. This must be an error as George was not born until 1837. In any case George must have married about July or August 1869, as the Quaker record shows that he was "Disowned" on 1st Sept. 1869, for marrying out.

There is no farther information, available at this time of writing, for Thomas George, William, Lewen and Harriet.

Thomas E. Walker died on 11 Apr. 1871 at age 72. Ann died on 13 Nov. 1868. Their place of burial is unknown.
