Mary Walker and Thomas Horsefall marriage record

A typescript copy of the Marriage Document of Mary Walker (1747) and Thomas Horsefall. (17**)

The marriage took place at a Quaker Meeting House

in the County of York at Monthly Meeting on 7th the 11th month (November) 1771.

Whereas Thomas Horsfall of Fartowne son of William Horsfall Late of Gildersome Deceased in the Parish of Battley and County of York, Clothier and Mary his wife and Mary Walker Daughter of Robert Walker of Drighlinton in the Parish of Birstal and Countyaforesaid, Clothier and Hannah his wife deceased, having Declared their Intentions of Taking each other in Marriage, before several Meetings of the People called Quakers, in the County of York. aforesaid and the proceedings of the said Thomas Horsfall and Mary Walker, after due enquiry and deliberate Consideration thereof, Were allowed by the said Meetings, they appearing clear of all Others, and having consent of their parents, and relations concerned. Now these are to certify all Whome it may concern, that for accomplishing of their said Marriage this seventh day of the eleventh month called November in the Year One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy one, They the said Thomas Horsfall and Mary Walker appeared in a publick assembley of the aforesaid People and others in their Meeting-house nigh Brighouse and he the said Thomas Horsfall taking the said Mary Walker by the handdid openly and solemnly declare as followeth - - -

Friends in the fear of the Lord, and before this assembley, I take this my friend Mary Walker, to be my wife, promising through Divine assistance to be unto her a loving and Faithfull Husband, until shall please the Lord by Death to separate us, or words to that effect - - - - -

Friends in the fear of the Lord, and before this assembley,I take this my friend Thomas Horsfall to be my husband promising through Divine Assistance to be unto him a Loving and Faithful Wife, until it shall Please the Lord by Death to separate us, or words to that effect - - - - -

And the said Thomas Horsfall and Mary Walker, as a further confirmation thereof, and in Testimony thereunto , did then and thereto these presents set their hands.

The whole names are hereunto subscribed, being Present among others at the solemnizing of the above said Marriage & Subscription in Manner aforesaid as Witnesses have also these presents subscribed our Names and Day and Year above written
